Void Runner
BEFORE YOU PLAY:
This game was made in 2 days (about 7 hours), because I happened to be going on a family holiday the same week as the jam. That didn't stop me from participating though.
My jam goals were to focus on lighting effects to make the game look decent, and only use the default Unity sprites. It was a lot harder than I expected.
About the Game
Void Runner is a game about a strange creature, sacrificing its life for numbers...
Play through a minute long level, with a choice:
- Play through the entire thing on 1 health, for maximum points
- Play it safe, and just try to get through the level, not focusing on points.
The theme of the jam is 'Less is More'. Less health is more points.
Comment your high score in the description below, I'd love to see it! (My high score is 188)
Scoring system:
- 100 points for loosing a life
- 6 points per second when on 2 hp
- 60 points per second when on 1 hp
- When you finish the game, your score is divided by the time you spent. Your final score is displayed below the 'You Win!' text.
Controls:
- This game uses standard platformer controls:
- Space/W to jump (A on gamepad)
- A to move left (left joystick on gamepad)
- D to move right (left joystick on gamepad)
- Jump again while in mid air to double jump
- (It should support gamepads, but I'm not sure. I can say my gamepad works but no idea if others will.
Credits
Everything in this game was made by me (not including the unity default sprites, they were made by the unity team)
Music was made in LMMS (https://lmms.io/), feel free to download the music and use it for anything, just credit me.
Cover was made with Corel Painter Essentials 7 and my drawing tablet (Intous small)

What operating system/browser?

the controls are a bit unresponsive at times
Good game but I really hope the controls were the arrows.. that would be besster but i dont mind having "WASD" as controls the space bar helped, I got a little confused if i was to use the space to use something or "W" to shoot or any of that, (If that was the game)
Everyone says that it does not work on chrome but it works great for me (I'm playing this on chrome)
It used to not load on chrome, but dutchlish helped me fix that
the physics are kinda weird but cool game
It worked fine in my Computer.
Please Add Some Sort of MainMenu where We can get an idea of What we have to do.
I would rate 3 stars to the game.
here is why,
1st reason is as mentioned above about the menu.
2nd is that if You collide with a vertical wall, you hover in the air and after releasing the key, the player falls down.
3is that the controls seems to be stiff(not a big deal, you can fix within minutes)
4th Player is too flat(try changing the colour or add a texture)
Very good Implementation of Lights, Nice SoundTrack, the player sound is a bit different but fits with the soundtrack.(You can change the Player sound, but the current sound is fine)
In 7 hours You did a Great Job!

wait, when you get stuck on the wall is a glitch? i thought it was so sort of weird buggy wall climb

I fixed the loading bug, so you can actually play it now!
I'd recommend putting the game in full screen mode, it doesn't change the size of the screen but it changes the resolution which is important, otherwise you might miss a platform.

Doesn't load in Chrome. If you're allowed to upload again, then go back to the Unity project and in the Project settings change the compression mode to 'none' and then build again. It's a Unity bug I've experienced before and this worked as a fix. Hope this is possible and this helps!
